Introducing the filmmakers nominated in the feature category

29. 1. 2026

The authors of feature-length documentaries present their first or second films, in which they take a clear stance against the contemporary world – whether through a critical view of social structures, mechanisms of power, or their own personal experiences. The common denominator is the courage to engage in conflict, seek new narrative strategies, and not settle for simple answers.

Michal Böhm – Unborn Father

Michal Böhm is a Czech freelance film editor. A graduate of FAMU, he works on both fiction and documentary films. Beyond filmmaking, he is involved in film journalism, teaching, and theory. Unborn Father is his feature-length directorial debut.

Tomáš Elšík – Resilience

Tomáš is a film director and editor. He studied editing at FAMU, Prague. His director’s debut Central Bus Station was premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest. His editing credits include feature films as Two Roads (dir. Radovan Síbrt, CZ, HBO) or Sugar-blog (dir. Andrea Culková, CZ). He attended workshop ExOriente as a tutor.

Jan Stejcovský – Is It Worth It!?

He occasionally works as an actor, and is the co-founder of the production company GPO Platform.

Marie Šprincl & Petr Šprincl – Satan Kingdom Babylon

The work of Marie and Petr Šprincl is characterized by unsettling poetics drawing on the darker sides of reality and by the use of 8mm film material and VHS technology. The audiovisual dimension of their work is often complemented by rich iconography extending beyond the medium of the moving image. Their practice balances between fiction, documentary, and experiment, with a shared focus on exploring various social forms of evil, often hidden beneath the thin surface of everyday reality. Alongside the film Satan Kingdom Babylon, they are the authors of the Moravia, O Fair Land trilogy (2015–2019) and Vienna Calling (2018). In addition to film, they also work with music videos, theatre productions, and gallery installations.

Vladimír Turner – Urban Disobedience Toolkit

He graduated from FAMU and UMPRUM and completed a PhD at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He is a multidisciplinary artist primarily focused on socio-political and environmental themes. He often collaborates with the non-profit sector as well as independent media and artists. In 2023, he co-represented the Czech Republic at the Venice Biennale.
